Galleria Cavour Bologna: Luxury Shopping in the City Centre

Galleria Cavour Bologna — the covered luxury shopping arcade on Via Farini

Galleria Cavour is Bologna’s main luxury shopping arcade, opened in 1956 and still operating in its original form on Via Farini, a short walk from Piazza Maggiore. The building is a covered glass-and-steel galleria in the mid-century style — a practical landmark rather than a tourist attraction in itself, though the architecture is pleasant enough to merit a walk-through even if you are not buying.

What Is Inside

The galleria houses a concentration of international luxury brands: Prada, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Fendi, Ferragamo, Canali, and Versace are among the permanent tenants. There are also a few Italian menswear and accessory shops that sit alongside the big names without being part of them. The gallery connects Via Farini to Via de’ Foscherari, making it a useful shortcut as well as a shopping destination.

Want to taste Emilia-Romagna's finest products?
Our half-day food tour from Bologna or Modena visits a Parmigiano dairy, a balsamic acetaia, and a prosciutto producer — transport included.

For food, there is a bar at the entrance that functions as a standard Bolognese coffee stop — nothing exceptional, but perfectly decent for a quick espresso before or after shopping.
