Art City Bologna is an annual contemporary art festival held each February in Bologna, running in parallel with Arte Fiera. Seven international artists exhibited across venues linked to the University of Bologna, including the Anatomical Theatre of the Archiginnasio — an intact 17th-century lecture theatre built entirely in wood, with the stone dissection table still at its centre. Artists in the 2026 programme included Mike Kelley, Ana Mendieta, Alexandra Pirici, Giulia Deval, Augustas Serapinas, Jenna Sutela, and Nora Turato. The premise treated knowledge as a living body: language, anatomy, and cultural memory as overlapping systems. Some capacity-limited venues — including Alexandra Pirici’s show — sold out in advance.
The Anatomical Theatre is worth noting as a venue in its own right. Art City and Arte Fiera
