The drive from Bologna to the Cinque Terre takes about three hours. This transfer adds a food stop on the way — a winery tasting, a hands-on pesto-making class, a Parmigiano Reggiano dairy visit, or a truffle hunt — one stop of your choice on the way. Pickup is from your hotel, airport, or train station in Bologna; drop-off is directly at your accommodation in Vernazza, Monterosso, Manarola, or Riomaggiore.
How it works
1. Pickup in Bologna
Your driver collects you from your hotel, Bologna Airport (BLQ), or Bologna Centrale station. Departure time is agreed in advance to fit your schedule.
2. Gourmet stop — choose one
One stop is included in the transfer. Choose the option that suits your group when you book — not both.
Option A — Winery visit and tasting: a stop at a Ligurian producer for a guided tour and tasting of Vermentino, Pigato, and local reds.
Option B — Pesto-making class: a hands-on workshop using fresh basil, pine nuts, and Parmigiano. You make it, you taste it.
Option C — Parmigiano Reggiano dairy visit: a stop at a working dairy in the Parma Apennines to watch morning production and taste wheels at different ages. The route passes through this area on the way to Liguria.
Option D — Truffle hunt: a guided hunt in the Apennine woods with a local hunter and his dogs. Depending on the season, you may find black summer truffle or the prized white truffle. Includes a tasting at the end.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive from Bologna to Cinque Terre?
About three hours by car, depending on traffic. The route runs through the Apennines and into Liguria. Train connections exist but require two or three changes and take over four hours — the private transfer is faster and drops you directly at your hotel.
Can I choose between the winery and the pesto-making class?
Yes — one stop is included and you choose which. The winery suits people who want to try Ligurian wines in a cellar setting. The pesto class is hands-on and runs about 45–60 minutes. The Parmigiano dairy is a good choice if you want to see production at source — the route passes through the Parma Apennines. The truffle hunt is seasonal and works best for small groups who want something off the beaten track. Let us know your preference when you book.
What is the cancellation policy?
Full details are confirmed at booking. As a private experience booked around specific producers and departure times, we ask for at least 48 hours notice for cancellations or changes. Contact us directly if your plans change.
Where exactly does the driver drop me off in Cinque Terre?
As close to your accommodation as road access allows. Some parts of Vernazza, Manarola, and Riomaggiore are pedestrian-only or have restricted vehicle access. Your driver will drop you at the nearest permitted point — typically a few minutes’ walk from your hotel. If you prefer a sea arrival, the boat transfer add-on from La Spezia covers the final leg.
