Walking Tour of Vicenza

Thanks to my long experience in the touristic field first as Tour Leader and now as Local Guide I can suggest you what can fit you best to enjoy a visit in my region

Guide Name: Angela Bianco

Vicenza is one of the best preserved monumental city centres in Italy.
Our visit begins at Vicenza’s high street, Corso Palladio. In and around this street can be found many palaces designed by Palladio (Palazzo Bonin-Longare, Palazzo Piovene, Palazzo Porto-Colleoni, Palazzo Thiene) and the visit aims at following a chronological order to see the evolution of his style. The Piazza dei Signori offers two great examples of his early work (the Basilica) and his later period (The Capitaniato). We may divert from Palladio to explore some of the other jewels of Vicenza, from Santa Corona, one of the earliest Gothic churches in the Veneto, which hosts a relic of the Thorn of crowns and an important altarpiece by Giovanni Bellini to experiencing local specialities such as baccalà alla vicentina. The visit then returns to Corso Palladio and continues with Palazzo Chiericati and Teatro Olimpico, the earliest indoor theatre in Europe.
From the city centre we will head to Villa Rotonda, the most famous of Palladio’s villas. This can be done as a leisurely walk or via taxi, depending on the group’s desire. This walk can also be extended to include the nearby Villa Valmarana ai Nani, decorated by G.B. Tiepolo.

Best Street food in Florence.

My trip to Florence, Italy was an adventure to remember. Among the sight-seeing, walking, shopping and general absorbing of this aesthetically pleasing city, I found some of the most delightful little street food vendors and places to get some of the best and most traditional foods Florence has to offer. To really take in and appreciate this Italian city for what it truly stands for, food wise, these were the best examples I could have tried. Known well for its consumption of wines, cold meats and cheese,
Florence is very well fed on flavoursome food and drinks. Eating here is an
absolute experience and they pride themselves on their many choices. Most
vendors will use the local produce meaning you get to taste the authenticity of Florence and Tuscan specialities.

It seemed just as I started to think of lunch, one of these beautiful little eateries would appear just as I needed them. Over all I found the Florence staff working at the venues to be really friendly and patient with my non-Italian lingo. Their English was wonderful and their accents understandable. I would recommend learning a little Italian before you
go as you can understand so much more when exploring their city and the food and wines Florence can offer.

I due fratellini in Florence.

Due Fratellini is a quaint and traditional little
sandwich and wine venue in the heart of Florence. If you are visiting Florence, I recommend you pop into this little treasure trove of fresh, mouth-watering, Tuscan food.

If you arrive here bang on lunch time like I did, then get in the que, the service is fact and the food is so worth the wait. It looked really daunting as I approached this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. There were at least 10 people outside the door waiting to be served. But I had a feeling it was going to be good because of the people eagerly waiting for their sandwiches and paninis.

With over 30 choices of filling for your Tuscan Bread sandwich or Panini, on any day of the week, it is hard to choose your combination of fresh cheese’s and cold meats and fish. The salad is as local as the Tuscan Ham with fennel seeds, all from small producers in Florence, you can guarantee it is as fresh as it possibly could be.

If you do get stuck with your sandwich filling, the family behind this traditional little street food vendor have put together a wonderful selection of suggestions from Green sauce to Tuscan Wild Boar Salami. The cheeses they have are a wondrous treat, so fresh and flavoursome. Pecrino cheese with Tuscan truffle for example was something I had never tried before my visit here.

The sandwiches are only 4euro so it is very affordable to eat here.

The gentlemen working behind the counter were very friendly and the food was amazing. People have heard a lot about this place and it has a great reputation so I would say a must see!

Their wine selection is extensive with a six foot deep wine rack holding hundreds of beautiful Chianti and Pinot Grigio, the rack spans the whole back wall of the counter up to the front door. The general trend here is to choose a sandwich or panini, then get yourself a lovely glass of Tuscan Wine to wash it down while accentuating the flavours of the Italian cheeses.

Panino Mondiale.

Panino Mondiale is a tiny little kiosk type, food vendor in
the Santa Maria Navella Train Station in Florence and offers some great street food. The name literally translates to World Sandwich.

The fillings available are plenty and their speciality is something called Lampredetto. This is a meat product which is served hot in your Tuscan Bread Roll, dusted with flour. It is lean and meaty and it comes from the
intestine of smaller cattle. This traditional Florence dish is not to be missed
and tastes great.

This is a good place to eat on the go with
the takeaway bags they provide and all at low street food prices.

The menu is impressive for such a small shop and I was pleased to see lots of children friendly options like burgers and sausages alongside their selection of dishes and sandwich fillings which are all bought fresh on a daily basis from the City Market.

L’antico trippaio.

L’antico Trippaio is a small food stall in the tiny unsuspecting location of the narrow historical streets in the city of Florence close to the Palazzo Vecchio. As a street food vendor, this place ticks all the boxes for a Tuscan Sandwich shop and give you an extensive menu of boiled meats and salsa verde aka green sauce. An elderly lady runs the little stall and
although not too friendly, she does know how to make you one of the best lampredetto smothered with a good serving of salsa verde and Tuscan cheese.

Rosticeria Giuliano.

Rosticceria Giuliano 3 this is beautiful and  traditional
Italian take away deli. The menu offers some home-made dishes and the produce is all local from Florence itself. The ingredients are fresh and full of flavour. I had some Tuscan Ham, peas and potatoes and it was beautiful. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Roast chicken is always a reccomended to try with visiting an Italian rosticeria.

rosticeria giuliano

Their wine selection is huge but the staff are happy to help guide you if you get stuck. I was torn between the Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG and the Super Tuscans. They allowed me to try both and I settled with the Chianti.

The chef comes into the deli and makes sure you and enjoying his culinary delights. An all-round lovely little place to get a nice glass of Chianti and a good hot meal. The display window shows an array of meats and cheese as well as their home cooked dishes. It’s hard to walk past and I just couldn’t resist the temptation.

Streed food tour in Florence.

Street food vendors are a plenty in Florence and you will no doubt discover some little gems yourself whilst wandering the streets and markets of this traditional little city. Many a review online can be found to show there is much excitement around the taste bud tingling flavours and discoveries found here.

Enjoy the views and absorb the ambience of Florence, the street food and wine is the final link to your full on Florence experience.

Visit and Tour the Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum in Bologna

The Ferruccio Lamborghini Museum is one of the most popular museums for cars in the world. Here’s some information about it.

2013-07-10 09.55.39

General Overview
The center was designed by Feruruccio’s son, who was named Tonino Lamborghini, in honor of his father who started the car company. Originally, the site was located across from the Lamborghini Calor factory. The facility was built in something of an Avant guarde structure which was quite tall. The building was also originally a conference center.

Visitors to the site can see many of the cars designed by the Lamborghini came. This includes the Miura, for example. This also include some of the first cars that Ferruccio designed going all the way back to 1948.

There’s also a lot in terms of photographs in this museum as well. There are thousands of pictures actually, so you can see how the cars chanted throughout the ages. The museum is also full of newspaper reports and other documents that help visitors understand how the company first started developing.
The museum also gives plenty of biographic information about Ferruccio, who was born in in Renazzo di Cento. There are even a lot of unique things available at the site such as a helicopter that Lamborginini was thinking about making. They actually hang this prototype from the ceiling so you can get a good look at it.

2013-07-10 10.25.04

Relocation and New museum.

The site has moved recently to Via Galliera N. 317 40050 Funo Di Argelato Bologna. It’s important to note this relocation if you plan on going, since many older references and articles online may tip you in the wrong direction.

The new location has even more to look at relating to Lamborghini such as a number of tractors made by the company throughout the years. There are even some Lamborghini boats that you can look at up close too if that’s something that you would want to do.
The museum is full of prototypes that show you the different directions that the company has thought about going in the past, and the different ways the company has approached design. The new museum is in the heart of Motor Valley and its full of multimedia that people can peruse in relation to the company.

The size of the new building makes it much easier to show everything all together, and it also makes it easier for people to see the different larger vehicles like the boat and helicopter more up close.

Overall, visiting the museum is going to be an intensely positive experience for anyone who loves Lamborghini cars and history in general since the history of Lamborghini has a lot in common with the history of Italy and really, the history of cars, industry and the world in general.

It helps to set aside plenty of time to look around this cavernous museum because there is so much to see here and it will appeal to people interested in just about every type of practical vehicle that you can think of in general.

It’s been noted that the museum is a great way for an entire family to experience a vacation since they can visit the museum together and then have a lot to talk about as a family later on.

Musa – the First Charcuterie Museum in Italy.

The first charcuterie museum in Italy, “MUSA”, introduces its visitors to multiple aspects, stages and perspectives of traditional meat curing process. Founded in 2013, the three story building is located in Castelnuovo Rangone, Modena, Italy right next to the headquarters of Villani Salami plant – the oldest and biggest regional salami producing company, which has been sustaining the craft of charcuterie producing for over 120 years. Throughout the galleries of the museum building, its multimedia booths, glassy models and other thematic images visitors are brought into the atmosphere of gastronomic heritage and of meat gourmet preparation all across Italy. The itinerary incorporates ten major parts maintaining a balanced mix of the practical side of sliced-ham making along with the spirit and the pride artisans take in their work.

IMG_6392.JPG

A Tribute to the History of Charcuterie

With the opening of Museo della Salumeria the commune of Castelnuovo Rangone (MO) pays tribute to the Villani S.p.A – a family-owned charcuterie production business existing since 1886, currently exporting cured meat to over fifty countries around the world. The gallery hallways feature the memorable images of historical tools, techniques and artifacts used in the old times for curing salami, mortadella and many other renowned culinary delights. As time shows, the salami-making process cannot be fully replaced by advanced technologies and modern equipment. The successful combination of novelty coordinated with manual approach and professional human skills is what makes the Italian-made charcuterie a one-of-a-kind delicacy.

Inside the Museum: Aesthetical and Educational Value

The visit course is divided into ten different sections each covering a particular aspect of the meat preparation process: curing, braising, trussing, slicing and more. The 3D crystal mock-ups of trussed meat on display, hanging platters of flowery cold cuts and other descriptive imagery convey the concept and culture of the multistage cooking course. Apart from getting impressed by the appetizing interior design, guests can gain knowledge about the various phases of the famous salami making. Throughout the course of years evolution of the product can be traced; the global tendency of healthy lifestyle in today’s world has imprinted itself in the manufacturing of the cold cuts as well: sliced ham contains less salt and fat complying with international food standards. By following the historical thread of the charcuterie evolution one gets the impression of what stands behind the legendary gastronomic delight: technique and precision side-by-side with passionate appreciation and dedication to work. Visitors expressing real-time interest to the cooking details may be armed with practical knowledge by gaining it from videos, textbooks and other visual aids available in respective halls – guidelines and old recipes are offered for public use.

Tastings and Social Events

Besides getting acquainted with the museum itinerary through texts and films, guests are welcome to take action by participating in guided tours, tastings and social themed gatherings. Gastronomic workshops are available upon request and the production department of salami Villani factory is open for visits as well for groups of at least 10 visitors
