XIII century tower b&b in Bologna

Do you want to live your very own  fairytale: Charming and Historical Stay in Bologna.

Torre Prendiparte offers visitors a totally unique experience in the lovely city of Bologna. Visitors to Italy will be familiar with the many historical fortress towers that can be found in almost every city; they played an enormously important role in the fortification of the region during her troubled past, and today many of them are ruins or semi-ruins and most have disappeared or are completely uninhabitable. Luckily, Torre Prendiparte, one of about 100 towers originally found in the centre of Bologna, is an exception to that rule and has been wonderfully restored to offer visitors and locals alike a most unusual and romantic sojourn, be it for a few short hours or a couple of days. If you have ever dreamt of living in a real castle, you must visit Prendiparte!

Historical Background: Located in the very heart of the historical centre of Bologna, this ancient tower has resumed its’ rightful place as a landmark. It has a fascinating history, which you will learn at first hand when you visit; originally the stronghold of the Prendiparte family (Nobles of the city of Bologna) in the 13th century, the tower has had several owners and was even used as a prison during the late 18th century. It is 65 meters high, and composed of a series of rooms, or floors, linked by staircases leading ever upward to the terrace on the top level, offering panoramic views over the city of Bologna.

Prendiparte Today: In addition to providing historical tours of the property, and a superb venue for private functions, the tower now incorporates one of the most romantic places in world to spend a night (or two!), just perfect for a wedding night, anniversary, or other special celebrations. The beautiful B&B suite sleeps up to four people, (but is just perfect for two… you will have the entire medieval tower to yourselves)! The suite is composed of a lounge area on the lowest level, with a bedroom above and a large loft above that, where your breakfast awaits you. The restoration has been most carefully carried out to emphasize the ancient origins of the tower, while still providing the necessary modern touches to make it the most attractive place to stay; the furnishings have been chosen to showcase life in previous, more dignified times, and no effort has been spared to evoke its’ unique atmosphere.

Just one word of caution – there are a great many steps to climb to the rooftop terrace, so it may not be the best choice for those who have restricted mobility. The suite, however, is on the lower levels of the tower and still accessible to most people; if you are in doubt contact Emilia Delizia.

Romantic Options at Prendiparte: Can you imagine a more romantic setting for your engagement or other special celebration? At Prediparte it can all be arranged for you, from a tour of the tower, followed by aperitifs on the panoramic terrace while you watch the sunset over the rooftops and listen to some soothing music, (perhaps a harpist?). If you would rather stay “home” for dinner, you can hire a private chef to create the perfect meal for yourself and your guests. Later, all you need to do is wander down to your private little castle for the night!

Tourist Options at Prendiparte: Of course, you do not have to have a special excuse to visit Torre Prendiparte – it is a fabulous place for anyone who loves the unusual! The accommodation is listed in the “Unusual Hotels of the World” guide and d gets only rave reviews on Tripadvisor. We offer various packages from a simple B&B arrangement to a two-night (or longer!) stay incorporating a culinary tour of the area to see how Parma Ham, Parmesan and Balsamic are made, or private cookery lessons or even a visit to Ferrari.

Do not miss this little gem!

Tower stay in Bologna

This is an amazing opportunity to spend your honeymoon. I stayed at the Tower Prendiparte in 2012 with partner for our wedding anniversary. We had the full on experience. It is not cheap but it is worth every penny.

  1. I would like to bring my girlfriend to tower Prendiparte for her birthday in September. It would be great to bring her friends along so can you let me know how much it would be for a one night stay for four including the personal chef option. Her birthday is 4th September so I would like something around that date – can you advise availability. Thank you.
